He was predeceased by: his parents, William P. Abair and Elizabeth "Elsie" Abair; his son John F. Abair, Jr.; and his siblings, William Abair, Marie Murphy and Elizabeth Doyle (Betty).
He is survived by: his wife Letty Abair; his daughters, Susan Schirmer and Janet Papciak (Louis Pinola); his daughter-in-law Kathy Abair; his grandchildren, Amrit, Thomas, Daniel (Megan), Shabdsurat (Aaron), Gurusimran, John and Amanda; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Bryson and Lucy; and his extended family, Patrick Sheridan (Georgianna) and Kathleen McGovern.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Spotswood Funeral Home (475 Main St, Spotswood, NJ 08884). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church (23 Manalapan Rd, Spotswood, NJ 08884). A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the Holy Cross Burial Park (840 Cranbury South River Rd, Jamesburg, NJ 08831).
