Daniel J. Smith Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Daniel J. Smith Sr. of Springfield, New Jersey, born in Irvington, New Jersey, who passed away on July 13, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Ginty (Catherine "Kate" Deighan) and Anna Ginty; and his son Brian Bernard. He is survived by: his wife Anna; his children, Daniel Jr. (Debby), Nancy Jeffries (Ken), Patrick Sr. (Bonnie), Christopher (Sylvia), Matthew (Kathy) and Maureen Commarato (Paul); his grandchildren, Daniel Smith III, Kathleen Viscidi, Brian Jeffries, Meridith Hannum, Kayla Pennington, Patrick Smith Jr., Joseph Smith, Aina Smith, Hannah Smith, Matthew Smith, Janie Smith, Christina Burdge, Loreal Donovan, Kelly Reagle and Paul Commarato; and his brothers, Ben (Doris), John (Patricia), Peter (Ginger) and Thomas (Nancy). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home (415 Morris Ave, Springfield, NJ 07081). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. James the Apostle Church (45 S Springfield Ave, Springfield, NJ 07081). A burial will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Teresa Cemetery (136 Passaic Ave, Summit, NJ 07901).
