He was predeceased by: his former wife Carol Barnes; his parents, Laura Barnes and Benjamin; and his brother Bryce Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Maslo; his daughters, Neely Barnes of Shelby Township, MI and Jaclyn Wesley (Frank) of State College, PA; his granddaughter Brittany Keeler of State College, PA.; and his siblings, John Barnes (Cyndi), Gordon Barnes (Linda) and Barbara Petersen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
