He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Apy and Grace Apy (Wiseburn); and his brothers, Chester, Arthur, Douglas and Raymond (Irene Hughes).

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Hughes Apy; his children, Melissa Friedman (Casey), Megan Capro (Michael), Mary Aikins (Gregory), Karen Apy and Edward Apy Jr. (Kathy); his grandchildren, Rachel Friedman, Wyatt, Luke Capro, Charles Apy, Claire, Alden Aikins, Nicole, Ryan Cebulko and Courtney Glubo; and his in-laws, David Hughes (Helen) and George Hughes (Nicky). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
