She was predeceased by: her parents, James Wood and Myrtle Wood; and her siblings, Lillian, Myrtle, Edna, James and William.

She is survived by: her husband Roy Nairn Steel; her children, Iris MacNeil, Nancy McRuer (Duncan), Gay Hart, Bonnie Golden (George) and Roy N. Steel, Jr. (Trudi); her siblings, Thomas Wood and Marion Keen; her grandchildren, Ryan MacNeil (Monica), Cara Donoghue (Ryan), Adrienne Kierna (David) and Katie Devine (Sean); her great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Killian Donoghue, Emery, Maeve Devine and Kelce MacNeil; and her namesake Hazel Lorraine MacNeil.
