He is survived by: his children, Thomas Flaherty (Melissa Isaksen), Edward Flaherty (Gloria Dowling), Catherine Flaherty and Margaret Castillo (Gregory); his grandchildren, Gregory, Jason, Natalie and Paige; his nephew Gary Walsh; his niece Patricia Szczygielski; his great-nieces, Tara and Margot; his nephew William Walsh (Kim); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Andrew, Devin and William Jr.. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
