With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Deacon Robert T. McGovern of Union, New Jersey, born in Newark, New Jersey, who passed away on June 8, 2023 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McGovern and Eleanor McGovern; and his brother Brian W. McGovern. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen; his children, Shawn (Maria) of Yardley, PA, Regan Holovacko (Jesse) and Amy Cimino (Neal) of Pt; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Ryan, Nathan, Charley, Kylie and Robert (Bobby).

“In loving memory of Deacon Robert T. McGovern, May your heart and soul find peace and comfort. Bob was one of the kindest and talented teaching assistants with whom I have ever worked. This was when Bob was a graduate student at Seton Hall, teaching as a grad. assistant. I still remember observing his class (which was on the poet Langston Hughes). He was so passionate and engaged with the topic. It was a great class. This must have been at least twenty years ago. May he rest in peace.”
