He was predeceased by: his parents, Pauline Merachnik and Louis Merachnik; his wife Sondra; and his brother Sanford Robert. He is survived by: his children, Beth Merachnik (David Sacks), Kathy Merachnik and Richard Merachnik (Lori); and his grandchildren, Hannah Merachnik, Lydia Merachnik, Monica Merachnik and Dylan Sacks.

Donations in his name may be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, New York.
