He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Salvatore Abate, and Ruth Abate, Sr. (Polhamus); his wife Marie Abate (Scarpa); his sons, Gaetano "Tom" Abate, Jr. (Carmen), Daniel Abate (Christopher) and Andrew Abate (Anne); his grandchildren, Nicholas Abate (Brittany), Abigail Marie Abate, Allison Mae Abate and Ava Mary Jane Abate; and his siblings, Salvatore Abate (Claudia), Marianna Freas (Abate), Ruth (Abate) and DePasquale (Bob). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
