She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Miller and Douglas Johnston; her husband John Aires; and her brother Douglas. She is survived by: her friends, Cochrans, Clarkes, Goldbergers, Kiernans, Lemkes and Schweigherts; her cousins, Dorothy Manz and Barbara Dignam; her sisters-in-law, Eileen Sullivan Aires (Bill), Sister Barbara Aires, Cathy Cassell (Ollan) and Dotsy Fitts (Tom); and also Margaret Miller Dignam (NJ). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was a Board member of the William Paterson Foundation where she secured and stewarded private philanthropic funding to position the University as a preeminent public institution in New Jersey.
