He was predeceased by: his parents, Celeste Oesterle and Paul Oesterle; and his sister Mary Ellen Oesterle. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Joyce; his children, David Oesterle (Erin) of Pequannock, Caroline Sulc (Michael) of Wayne and Mark Oesterle (Liz) of Washington, D. C.; his grandchildren, Shannon, Sarah, Ryan, Julia, Mark and Patrick; and his siblings, Father John Oesterle of Pittsburgh, PA and Carol Dove of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home (567 Ratzer Rd, Wayne, NJ 07470). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's R. C. Church (17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442).
