She was predeceased by : her grandson Casey Dittmeier of Kinnelon; and her father Charles DiMaria. She is survived by : her friend Bob; her husband Dr. Robert J. Sova of West Milford; her children, Laurie Dittmeier (Paul) of Kinnelon and Robert Sova, Jr. of West Milford; her mother Virginia DiMaria of Wayne; her grandchildren, Kylee and Ryan Dittmeier of Kinnelon; and her siblings, Charles "Skip" DiMaria (Geraldine) of Barnegat, Linda Finke (Frank) of Wood-Ridge and Diane DiMaria of Voorhees. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I was Barbara and Dr. Sova's travel agent for a couple of decades, and mostly dealt with Bob, but the times I spoke to Mrs. Sova, I found her to be a lovely classy lady. She called me once panicking at an odd hour over a trip, but my memory of that was that she was so gracious, I was flattered that she reached out. I wish I had known her better, Dr. Sova paid me back by conferring over a sick cat (15 years after he knew me) and my heart hurts for him now, having witnessed her grace. Laurie Byro”
