He is survived by: his daughters, Lorrie LaBruno (Russell) and Megan Hannigan (Brian); his grandchildren, Casey Billotti, Mackenzie Freda, Hayden Freda, Kiernan Freda, Russell LaBruno, Jr., Nicholas LaBruno and Connor Hannigan; his siblings, Peter Young (Gale) and Frances Miller (George); and his son-in-law Craig Freda.

“I knew Howdy since we were both about 6 or 7 years old. We lived close to each other and were close friends in school. I will never forget how when we rode together in the car he sat in the middle of the back seat with his little sister and brother on each side. In the days before seat belts Howdy held his arms out to each side to stop the children from flying forward in a fast stop. I will miss you old friend.”
