He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sands and Anna Sands; his stepson Derek Mons; his sister Anne Gale Feehan (James); and his in-laws, Joseph and Virginia Masar.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Masar Sands; his sister Mary Gannon (Sean); his children, William Sands, Denise Coulter and Troy Sands (Vanessa); his siblings-in-law, Jacqueline Schlenger (Don), Jo Anne Masar (Gary Mahana), Ginnie Masar, Mark Avondoglio, Hank Ramberger and Gary Leggour; his grandchildren, Zoe Applegate and Joshua Aznar; his great grandchild Will; and his pets, Oliver and Alfie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to Riverview Medical Center's Infusion Oncology Center.
