He was predeceased by: his stepdaughter Caytea Melendy; his mother Lagi Utu; and his sister Eleanor Matautia. He is survived by: his wife Diana Utu (Rosa); his sons, Milo Rene Utu (Nina) and Sean Rene Utu; his stepson Jimmy Melendy (Sydney); his grandchildren, Asja Waddell, Elijah Clark, Myliah Clark, Connor Manning, Adalynn Melendy and Ivy Melendy; and his sisters, Fogavai Ma'o and Reti Cohen.
