He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy (Cook); and his siblings, Marcia Pumpelly and Richard Catando (Fay). He is survived by: his sons, R. Bruce Catando (Cecelia), Andrew Catando (Melissa) and Steven Catando (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Perry, Geena, Clayton, Olivia, Sophia, Kristin, Cameron and Anthony; and his siblings-in-law, Charles Pumpelly and Leslie Catando.

“Your dad was a good friend of my husband, Jim Maher, and l considered him my friend, also. He jumped right in when I asked for help in getting a BB-62 jacket for Jim several years ago. Not satisfied with offering advice he insisted on meeting me at the store not once but twice to make sure the jacket matched what the other guys had. Always a smile and never a complaint about his own difficulties he exemplified kindness and caring. A very good man. Kathy Maher”
