He was predeceased by : his son Ernest Robert Alvarado (Julie) of Denver; his parents, Elvira Mendosa and Cipriano Alvarado; and his siblings, Emma Olguin, Ruth Delrio (Cuca) and Phil Mendosa.

He is survived by : his wife Frances Alvarado; his children, Vera Sanders (Carl) of Buffalo, Louie Alvarado (Christina) of Denver, Pearl Abalos (Andy) of Canyon City, Richard Alvarado of Pueblo, Rosemarie Alvarado, Caroline Kelly (Dave) of Santa Fe and Eloy Alvarado of Jemez Spring; and his sister Selia Bejarano.

A rosary was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Church (811 6th St, Las Vegas, NM 87701). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery (501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501).
