Verna left this world on October 20, 2025 at the age of 87, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Flossie Beatrice Morgan Murphey and William C. Murphey. She is survived by: her sons, Curtis Lance McMillen and Merle William Styck (Bill); her spouse Merwin Walter Styck; her grandchildren, Patrick McMillen (PJ), Curtis McMillen Jr., Angela McMillen, Andria Layton, Briana Styck and Jackson Styck; and her great grandchildren, Lillian, Lacey, Olivia, Madison, Ella, Cade, Lance, Oliver and Isaiah. She is also survived by ten siblings.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Alamogordo Funeral Home (2301 E 1st St, Alamogordo, NM 88310). A graveside service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Monte Vista Cemetery (1590 E 1st St, Alamogordo, NM 88310).
She earned a National Administrator Credential and was honored by Alamogordo High School for her contributions to early childhood education.
