He was predeceased by: his son Benjamin Chavez Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Vargas of Chavez; his children, Hortencia Rodriguez (Alejandro), Silvia Chavez, Oscar Chavez and Saul Chavez (Liz); and his sisters, Nena Chavez and Antonia Chavez. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
