Hartley; his siblings, Theresa Thomas and Ronnie Thomas; his grandmother Eleanor Thomas; his aunts, Sharon Thomas, Geraldine Tucker and Ethel Faye Foster; his nieces and nephews, Habib Thomas, Najah Green, Saundra Ward, Danya Gibson and Sasha Thomas; and his close friend Sue Yazzie. He is also survived by grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
