Gaylord Ross Obituary
Age 86, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home in Socorro, NM surrounded by family. He was born in Hot Springs, NM on January 16, 193, to Herbert and Ruth (Brown) Ross. He later moved to Los Alamos, NM and finally Socorro, NM where he would settle down. After graduating from Socorro High School, he was drafted and proudly served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Socorro where he would then marry Jan Walton on January 27, 1954. Together they had four children. Gaylord was an extremely hard worker. He worked for, and later took over the family business. Ross Electric, where he was an electrician. He became an accomplished journeyman and contractor. He was a strong and stoic man who always worked hard for his family. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, especially NM history, as well as boating, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jan Ross, son, Jim Ross; daughter, Cindy Ross; brothers, Herb Jr. "Sony" Ross, Tom Ross; and sister Nancy Wellborn. He is survived by his sons, Carl Ross (Mona), Daryl Ross (Elaine), Robert Peralta, daughter, Annie Balch (Adam); and brother, William Ross (Briana); sister, Marian Ross. Gaylord had 9 grandchildren, Donna Newland, Rhiannon Ross, Katheryne Ross, Amanda Ross, Scott Ross, Adam Ross, Quin Dustin, Kyle Balch, and Madison Carlisle. He also had 7 great grandchildren. He was a proud father to all his children. He will be greatly missed.
