We announce the death of Helen F. Ortiz in Albuquerque, New Mexico, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 88. Helen will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her father Frank Pretto; her husband Jose Medardo Ortiz; her siblings, Virginia Miller (Ray Miller), Madeleine Jennings (Edward Jennings) and Humbert Sweeney (Eleanor Sweeney); and her siblings-in-law, Perciliano (Valentina Ortiz), Jose Willifredo (Florinda Ortiz), Eurcinia (Marcos C'De Baca), Donelia (Benjamin Roybal), Julian (Frances Ortiz), Frank (Mary Ortiz), Reyes (Gilbert Sena), Reynaldo Ortiz, Mary (Jerry Aranda) and Rosina (Gene Clayton).
She is survived by: her sons, John Ortiz (Veronica), Michael Ortiz and Paul Ortiz; her grandchildren, Monique Ortiz, John Ortiz, Jr. (Amanda Ortiz), Joseph Ortiz (Emma Berlin-Ortiz), Melanie Ortiz, Jeremiah Ortiz, Charlie Ortiz, Mason Ortiz, Alexandria Rivas, Gabriella Rivas and Jesus Rivas (Chuey); her great grandchildren, Alyvia Ortiz, Jenika Ortiz, Jonah Ortiz, Serenity Galindo, Isaac Galindo, Genesis Galindo, Izzabella Garcia and Tillyanna Archuleta; and her sister-in-law Stella Ortiz.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the San Isidro Parish (2148 San Ysidro Crossing, Santa Fe, NM 87507). A burial was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at the Rosario Cemetery (499 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501).
