He was predeceased by: his parents, Nina Carter and JB Carter; his stepmother Frances Carter; and his sister-in-law Pearl Carter. He is survived by: his wife Linda Carter; his children, Sheryl Coburn (Andy), Jimmy (Jeanne) and Tomas (Jacki); his stepchildren, Tommy Chavez, Pam Chavez Williams and Alfie Chavez (Trish); his brother Ron Carter (Silvia); his stepsister Sheila Chavez; his half-brothers, Marvin Carter (Ann), Alan Carter (Holly) and Darryl Carter; and his sister-in-law Dianne Maynard (Ken). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center to support laryngectomy and cancer research.
