It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Velarde of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As John departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved John. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Amadeo Velarde and Lucy Velarde; his sister Diana Segura; and his nephew Lorenzo Cowan. He is survived by: his brother-in-law Gabriel Segura; his niece Lynn Trujillo (Rob Tapia); his great-nieces, Deja Maxey and Viola Tapia; and his great-nephew Robert Tapia Jr..
