He was predeceased by: his father-in-law Lorenzo Barela; his brothers-in-law, Louie and Benny Baca; his grandparents, Pablo, Eloisa Romero, Lupe and Vera Ortega; his aunts, Doris Tapia, Lydia Chavez and Sophie Howe; his uncle Tommy Tapia; and his godparents, Santiago and Frances Romero.
He is survived by: his parents, Johnny Romero and Fern Romero (Ortega); his wife Virginia Baca; his sons, Nathan Romero (Kristin) and Santiago Romero (Andrea Gurule); his grandchildren, Kaidyn Chavez, Mikele Romero, Nayla Romero and Kasydi Chavez; his siblings, Juanita Romero, Michael Romero (Rose) and Miguel Romero (Clarke Gestopa); his mother-in-law Maria Baca (Israel Cruz); and his siblings-in-law, Virginio Baca, Jr., Saul Paniagua, Jose Cruz and Terri Dingmen. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church - Santa Rosa (439 S 3rd St, Santa Rosa, NM 88435). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM at the St. Joseph Cemetery - Santa Rosa (439 S 3rd St, Santa Rosa, NM 88435).
