He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicodemus Chaves and Petrita Chaves; his daughter Mykel Lynn; his siblings, Avelina Battaglia, Nick, Ben, Manuel, Eloy, Frank, Dan and Paul; and his sisters-in-law, Vidalia, Geraldine, Marie and Curla (Margaret).
He is survived by: his brother Alex Chaves; and his children, Linda Chaves, Kathleen Chaves, Barbara Griffith and Richard Chaves. He is also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, and nephews.
