He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schmeits and Wonona Schmeits (Sherry); his daughter-in-law Marilyn Schmeits; and his brother-in-law Jack Sauser. He is survived by: his sons, James (Jianghuai Schmeits) and Thomas Schmeits; his brother Ron; his sister-in-law Ann Schmeits; his sisters, Mary Sauser and Becky; his brother-in-law James Carr; and his grandchildren, Tommy Schmeits Jr., Sarah Schmeits and Joanna Schmeits. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
