He was predeceased by: his father Larin James Smrekar. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Smrekar of Carlsbad; his mother Layne (Ted Combrink) of California; his children, Kristina Smrekar of California, Erika Smrekar, Taylor Venable, Tommy Venable of Carlsbad and James Venable; and his grandchildren, Lillyann, Aubrey, Michael, Aarik and Ryan.
