We announce the death of Lucia Lopez of Carlsbad, New Mexico, who passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 71. Lucia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jim Lopez and Maggie Lopez (Acosta); her husband Leo Gonzalez; and her siblings, Jim Lopez, Jr., Sonny Lopez, Thelma Calderon and Herman Lopez.
She is survived by: her children, Lupe Carrasco (Anna) and Veronica Hernandez (Eli); her grandchildren, Lupito Carrasco, Jr., Karis Hernandez and Arianna Carrasco; her siblings, Sally Vasquez, Henry Lopez (Selina) and David Lopez; her brother-in-law Ben Calderon; and her aunt Irene Campos. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
