It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melva Keen (Carlsbad, New Mexico), born in Odessa, Texas, who passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father George W. Sherrod; her husband Jimmy W. Keen; her mother Lila Sherrod Lambreth; and her siblings, Stanley Sherrod and Peggy Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Debra Keen, Jimmy Keen (Rebecca) and Greg Keen (Michelle); her grandchildren, Jennifer Soltero (Roque), Hannah Pitts (Cameron), Wade Keen, Devean Keen and Oliver Keen; and her great grandchild Harper Ray Pitts. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (3101 S Canal St, Carlsbad, NM 88220).
