He is survived by: his children, Cici Calderon (Manuel), Sally Aguilar (Julian), Irma Rodriguez (David), Mario Lara (Rose) and Abel Lara (Prissy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Campos, Michael Hernandez, Julian Jerome Aguilar, Melanie Aguilar, Gwen Mendoza, Mario Lara Jr., Danielle Lara, Melissa Rodriguez, Megan Rodriguez, David Rodriguez III, Misti Rodriguez, Tiffany Ortiz, Justin Lara, Lindsey Lepetit and Austin Lanier; and his brother Victor Lara. He is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Denton Wood Funeral Home (1001 N Canal St, Carlsbad, NM 88220). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
