She was predeceased by: her parents, James William "Bill" Dillard and Edna Gerlach; and her son Mark Alan Howell. She is survived by: her son John William Howell (Julie) of Clovis, NM; her husband Norvil Howell; her sister Carolyn McCombs of Novato, CA; her grandchildren, Jake Howell (Avery Frazier) of Lubbock, TX and Hannah Howell of Plano, TX; and her caregivers, Cassandra Linn and Elaine Randall.

She was a member of the Eastern New Mexico University Alumni Association and Friends of Eastern Foundation and served as, Vice-President of the Curry County Association of Retired Educational Employees.
