He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Clifton Metzger and Lydia Metzger (Wegner) of Bancroft, Nebraska.; his wives, Lois (Koehler) and Norma (Aucoin); his children, Darla Gremel (Jim), Fran Barclay (Robert), Linda Kinzer (Alan), Rebecca Hesterman (Phil), Jacki McCurley (Dan), Connie Jones (Larry) and Robert Metzger; and his siblings, Myra Tietze, Kenneth, Lyle and Marvin Metzger.

The family requests donations be made to the Lutheran Hour Ministries, an organization he felt strongly about.
