The memory of Lou Ann Cortese in Clovis, New Mexico, who passed away on June 5, 2025 at the age of 88, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Don Cortese; her son Joe Don Cortese; her parents, James Knox Barfield II and Thelma Lou Barfield; her siblings, J. K. Barfield III, Dorothy Jean Barfield, Mary Kathryn Bristow and Glenn Hromas (Tootsie); and her great grandchild Mercey Jade Cortese.
She is survived by: her children, Edie Smith (Gary) of Dyersburg and Knox Cortese (Bobbie Ann) of Fort Sumner; her daughter-in-law Mae Cortese; her daughter Debi Weaver (Steve); and her caregivers, Staci Huggins, Ramon Paredez, Margarita Amaya and Dorothy Martinez of Addison's Drug Store. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (509 N 6th St, Fort Sumner, NM 88119). A burial will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Sumner Cemetery (1335 N 17th St, Fort Sumner, NM 88119).
