She was predeceased by: her daughters, Gloria Ortiz and Helen Artz; her parents, Margarito Mares and Eulogia Marques; her siblings, Richard Mares, Cipriano Mares, Larry Mares, Sammy Mares, Sinfurosa Moya, Eva Lindley and Peggy Bannis; and her granddaughter Marcia Artz.
She is survived by: her children, Jason Valdez (Melissa) of Yuma, Marshall Valdez of Clovis, NM, Margaret Garcia (Joe) of Borger, TX, Mary Shafer of Clovis, NM, Hope Gallegos (Richard) of Clovis, NM, Yvonne Gonzalez (Lee Marquez) of Clovis, NM, Marietta Valdez of Clovis, NM and Estella Valdez of Clovis, NM; and her brothers, Robert, George, Billy and Leo Mares. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
