He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Franse and Jessie Franse; and his siblings, C. W. Franse, Donald Franse, Ralph Franse, Marie Mackechnie, Carolyn Reese, Ida Purdum, Helen Franse and Letha Franse.

He is survived by: his wife Jerrie Lou; his son Nelson; his daughter-in-law Marie Franse of Albuquerque; his son Clayton Franse of Clovis; his grandchildren, Colson Franse (Kylie) and Addison Pavek (Josh); his great grandchild Moriah Grace Pavek; and his sisters, Thelma Anderson of Clovis and Betty McCormick of Woodland Hills, CA..
