He was predeceased by : his parents, Jose Inez and Erlinda Chavez; his parents-in-law, Andronico and Beatrice Baca; his siblings, Ernesto Chavez (Eva), Abelino Chavez (Mary), Freddy Chavez and Julia Baca (Ernest); and his sons, Johnny Joe Chavez, Toby Chavez and Ronald Chavez.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Chavez; his children, Enrique Chavez, Roland Chavez (Leslie), Regina Torres (Carlos) and Monica Segura (Manuel); and his siblings, Johnny Chavez (Rosalia), Rose Chavez, Jane Sanchez and Toni Chavez. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
