He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edwin Erwin and Mildred Erwin (Gideon); his sibling Eagle Scout; his wife Mickey Harvey; his grandchildren, Brenna, Bella, Isaac and Lilli; his sons, Geoff Erwin of Dallas, TX and Erik Erwin (Nancy) of Cameron Park, CA; his siblings, Debra DeJarnette (Ed) of Athens, TN and Mark Erwin of Atlanta, GA; and his grandchildren, Isabella Erwin, Issac Erwin and Lilliana Erwin. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was involved with the local Rotary Club, Central Baptist Church, the New Mexico Baptist Foundation and founded the annual Soap Box Derby.
