He is survived by: his children, Sergio Varela (Araceli), Carmela Aguilar (Vicente), Oralia Barrera (Jose) and Manuela Barrera (Cruz); his stepchildren, Tim Grattan (Angelica), Manuel Perez, Lorena Grattan and Elizabeth Cruz (Jose); and his sisters, Dolores Marquez (Gustavo), Elena Varela, Esperanza Medina (Guillermo) and Monina Varela. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
