He is survived by: his children, Laura Wages, Socorro Zamora-Mercado, Raul O. Mercado and Gerardo "Jerry" O. Mercado (Veronica); and his siblings, Jaime Mercado (Maricruz), Velia Valenzuela (Gilberto) and Delia Kan. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Baca's Funeral Chapel (811 S Gold Ave, Deming, NM 88030). A rosary was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Saint Ann's Catholic Church (400 S Ruby St, Deming, NM 88030). A committal service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 1:15 PM at the Mountain View Cemetery (3410 E Pine St, Deming, NM 88030).
