With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sterlin Burney of Elida, New Mexico, who passed away on October 22, 2025 at the age of 44. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Sterlin has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
He is survived by: his parents, Betty Diane (McGee) and Wayland Ray Burney; his stepparents, Sid Price of Elida and Sandra Burney of Lubbock, TX; his brother Silver; his sister-in-law Alyson Burney of Fort Worth, TX; his sister Mindy; his brother-in-law Brad Oder of Corona, NM; and his nephews, Sumner Burney, Baylee Oder (Sydney) and Hadlee Oder.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel (500 E 3rd St, Portales, NM 88130). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
