He was predeceased by: his parents, Catalina Chavez and Orlando Chavez Sr.; his nephew Christopher Chavez; his great-niece Yvonne Magdelena-Chavez; his nephew Rudy Gallegos; and his in-laws, Andres Alejandro Torrez, Maria Magdalena Montoya-Torrez, Becky Cardenas, Juan Torrez, Joel Torrez, Jessie Torrez and Alejandro Torrez (Hondo).
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Chavez; his daughters, Tammie Trujillo-Ray and Amie Chavez; his sisters, Gloria Small and Angel Chavez; his grandchildren, Renee Chavez-Estevan, Rayonna McKale-Matthew, Joshua Trujillo-Alexandria, Giovona Trujillo, Renika Tafoya, Angelo Tafoya, Jake, Kevin McKale and Jazelle Trujillo; and his in-laws, Pauline, Anthony, James Torrez, Joanna, Veronica, Raymond, Nadine, Roger, Cathy, Melchor, Jackie Torrez, Alexandria and Edward.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Grants Memorial Park Cemetery (500 W Roosevelt Ave, Grants, NM 87020).
