He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Viola Burns; his sister Juanita Hunter; his wife Ellen Burns; his daughters, Kay Culp and Ranae Burns; his grandchildren, Tracy Brey (Jeremy Brunk) and Michelle Weinstein (Eric); his great grandchildren, Zach Brey (Megan), Riley Weinstein and William Weinstein; and his son-in-law Crawford Culp.

He is survived by: his sister Elizabeth Wilson.
