She was predeceased by: her father Rev. Simon Velásquez Sr.; her stepmother Ernestina Hernández; her siblings, Simon Velásquez Jr., Sylvester Velásquez Sr., Maria Moreno and Juana Ramírez; and her nephews, Sylvester Velásquez Jr. and Alvaro Moreno Jr..
She is survived by: her mother Paula Chávez Velásquez; her husband Rev. Joe D. Hernández; and her brother Manuel Velásquez.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Hope (3321 N Dal Paso St, Hobbs, NM 88240). A burial was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at the Prairie Haven Memorial Park (1900 E Stanolind Rd, Hobbs, NM 88240).
