With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Maximino Velasquez (Hobbs, New Mexico), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 3, 2026 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by: his mother Petrolina Velasquez; his brothers, Dario Velasquez and Eliseo Velasquez; his daughter Cynthia Short; and his niece Sylvanna Barraza.
He is survived by: his children, Norma Pickerel of Midland, Texas, Johnny Velasquez of Jay, Oklahoma, Joann Pender of Eunice, Richard Velasquez of Eunice, Donna Roach of Eunice and Dario Velasquez Jr. of Carlsbad; and his siblings, Rosenda Hargrove, Juliana Sanchez, Vicenta Aranda, Juanita Rueda and Blas Velasquez of Lovington. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
