He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Shannon Arnett, D. L. Whinery and Robert Mercer; his uncle Robert Mercer; and his great-grandparents, Bill and Grace Steiner.

He is survived by: his parents, Danny Whinery and Melissa Whinery; his siblings, Ron Mercer (LaTanya Bowie), Cameron Whinery, Kevin Whinery and Rochelle (Tyler Franklin); his nephews, Jayden and Joshua; his niece Robin; and his grandparents, Phillip, Denise Troxell and Kay Whinery (Anthony Day). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
