It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Consuelo Martinez (Las Cruces, New Mexico), born in Dona Ana, New Mexico, who passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel Espalin and Carlotta Barela; her son Jaime Martinez; her former husband Larry Martinez; her husband Joe Martinez; her sister Daisy Rodriguez; her brother-in-law Bobby Rodriguez; and her son-in-law Tommy Ortega.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy Ortega (Tommy), Cindy Martinez and Larry B. Martinez (Cecilia); her grandchildren, Amanda Martinez, Nick Griffiths (Vivi), Michael Ortega, Tommie Rae Ortega, Ubaldo Benavidez IV (Angie), Breana Ortega (Jeannine), Daniel Martinez and Amber Martinez; her great grandchildren, Izabela Peña, Calliah Griffiths, Kloie Griffiths, Jaime Peña, Ubaldo Benavidez V, Riley Ortega, Jacklynn Ortega, Jessy Benavidez, Jocelynn Romero, Dominic Benavidez, Eliana Martinez and Naveah Martinez; her great great grandchild Angel Cruz; and her siblings, Dorothy Lucero (Eloy), Albert Barela, Pauline Sanchez (Mike) and Gilbert Barela (Olivia). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
