He was predeceased by: his parents, Ramon Lara and Eusebia Romero; and his siblings, Lorenzo, Joe, Roberto, Ramon, Mary, Antonia and Adela.
He is survived by: his wife Rose M. Lara; his sons, Joseph A. Lara Sr. (Blanca), Raymond J. Lara and Eric F. Lara; his grandchildren, Joseph A. Lara Jr., Fernando Lara, Daijah M. Lara, Kylie Chesebro-Lara and Emily Chesebro-Lara; his great grandchild Josiah Lara; and his brothers, David Lara and Antonio.
