He was predeceased by: his former wife Christine Ortega; and his parents, Emilio Valdez and Rita Quintana Valdez. He is survived by: his wife Harley; his grandchildren, Andrew, Marisol, Carlos and Paloma; his great grandchild Giovani; his siblings, Lucille Tafoya (George), Roberta Velarde (Fred), Arthur Valdez (Christina Villegas), Maximiliano "Max" Valdez (Evelyn) and Tom Valdez (Doris); his sister-in-law Diana DeSantis (Dominic); and his daughter Monica. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
