She was well known in her community for her being a strong woman's sufferage advocate often seen guiding and helping other women become successful in their own right. She strongly supported her husbands love for altruism and admired him for his kindness and immense world knowledge. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren revisiting stories of old under her tree, snacking on homemade goodies. Music was an important part of her life showing off her "pasitos" in the kitchen while her youngest son spruced up his guitar skills and her eldest philosophized with family friends. She loved expanding and sharing her crochet and knitting skills with her granddaughter and often created one of a kind pieces with her for her grandson and great grandson. Her motto in life was live life to the fullest and she advocated the importance of productivity and working together onto her family. Taking us on family trips to tend to her land and instilling unto us the wealth of humbleness and working for thyself in order to build something that you can truly call your own.
Socorrito will be greatly missed and memorialized for an eternity to come.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there I did not die.
